»  'American Buffalo'

The actor Julio Manrique takes up directing once more with American Buffalo, one of the most famous works by North American playwright David Mamet. The action is set in Don's old second-hand shop, where a coin is mistakenly undersold.

With the help of Bob, a former drug addict, and Teach, a busybody who lives in a hotel, Don devises a plan to recover it and, while they're about it, take away a few other items from the new owner's house.

The Museu d'Història de Catalunya exhibition "Industrial Colonies" looks back at the phenomenon of the establishment of these factory complexes. Using oral and written testimonies, audio-visual material and displays recreating such places, the exhibition provides a close-up on several aspects of life in these colonies.

Working hours and speeds, the location, the social life and leisure time of colony' residents are just some of the aspects examined in the exhibition, which is on until 7 March 2010.

»  'The Malady of Writing'

El mal d'escriptura (The Malady of Writing) is quite a different project from the usual offerings. This is a collection of books, booklets and manuscripts all written by artists and forming a unique library.

An array of novels and works of fiction of dubious success in the literary world, given that success essentially depends on two factors: distribution channels and the experimental nature of the texts.

Cambodia is a small, south-east Asian country whose recent past has been marked by tragedy. After three decades of conflict, it is now one of the countries most affected by anti-personnel mines. Today, with peace restored, Cambodia is looking ahead and, despite years of pain and suffering, is working to build a better future.

Through the photographs of Gervasio Sánchez (2009 King of Spain Award for Journalism) and the documentaries of Oriol Gispert, the exhibition aims to contribute towards a better understanding of Cambodian reality.

»  'Boulevard' - a period comedy

The new season at the Villaroel sees Carol López directing Boulevard, a period comedy in which various characters belonging to a group of strolling players rehearse for a play full of problems.

A diva, a director, a producer and the actors do the final rehearsals for a show, immersed in the frantic rhythm that accompanies the run-up to the opening night. Just at the last moment they realise shoes are missing, the roles of its characters are not clear and the ending is not even what they thought it was, but, as they say in the world of theatre, 'the show must go on!'
